Our Leadership

Barbara Burkey was a teenage mother who decided she wanted more out of life, than being a statistic. It took a long time, but she pushed herself to get her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Marketing and then her Master’s degree in Adult Education/Training; all while being a mom, wife and working full-time jobs.
Barbara is our President and is a big believer that anyone can accomplish their goals, sometimes they just need the tools and/or training to build their future.
Prior to starting Thriftology Inc., Barbara worked for a diverse range of organizations including over 5 years in retail, and 10 years training adults in various positions.
Barbara specializes in public speaking to at-risk teens, volunteer recruitment, presentations, coaching, multicultural awareness, and leadership training.
Barbara for the past 3 years has volunteered with the local CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) program where she developed a strong sense of devotion for the nonprofit sector.
She is passionate about Thriftology Inc. and its possibilities. We will be providing not only clothing and household items at a great value, doing so will help have a positive environmental impact.
Thriftology will also be offering retail hands-on job experience, computer training, job hunting, and interviewing services that will help people in our community to grow and achieve their own personal and professional goals.
